1712 Marriage Record
of Pierre Edmé Thuot and Marie Fournier
Parish book of Notre-Dame, Montréal, Québec

Both the bride and groom were able to sign their names, as highlighted. Among the other signatures are those of distinguished guests, including François LeVerrier, captain of the marines, and Etienne Rocbert, keeper of the royal stores.

This may be compared to the 1873 marriage record of Charles Duval and Célanire (Sarah) St. Aubin, where there were only two guests, and no one was able to sign.
